摘要
Two complementary methods were used to analyse the deformation mechanisms involved in the plasticity of commercially pure titanium during compressive loading: neutron diffraction and the self-consistent model. The strain response of 15 crystallographic planes was tracked during the measurement, in directions both parallel and transverse to the straining direction, providing new insight into the mechanical behaviour of the polycrystal. The neutron diffraction results show evidence of tensile twins in the titanium alloy studied. The twin volume fraction was determined from the change in crystallographic texture. The influence and the role of plastic anisotropy were also studied and explained in this work. Good agreement was found between the experimental and predicted results. (C) 2013 Acta Materialia Inc.
