Research of BaTiO3-Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 Lead-Free PTCR Ceramics

Lead free PTCR ceramics based on BaTiO3-Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (BT-NBT) system were prepared by a solid state reaction method. By DSC, XRD, SEM and other analytical instrument, the effect of the amount of additive NBT and sintering atmosphere on microstructure and resistance-temperature properties of the PTC ceramic was investigated. The results indicated that the Curie temperature (T-c) was increased evidently with the additive NBT when x<0.03. T-c could be enhanced to 150 degrees C when adding x=0.01 NBT. The room temperature resistivity of the sample sintered in air was obviously higher than that sintered in nitrogen; however, the PTC effect of the sample sintered in nitrogen was bated.
