Monte Carlo simulation of grain growth in textured metals

摘要
The Monte Carlo algorithm has been adapted to model texture evolution during grain growth in a way that a generally unlimited number of texture components may be implemented. The attention was directed to the influence of anisotropic grain boundary mobilities. The growth behaviour of a two and a three component system was studied. In both cases sharp texture changes were observed. Since experimental grain boundary mobility data are still uncomplete and the complex influence of the grain boundary energy and second phase particles are difficult to be accounted for, a quantitative prediction of the grain growth behaviour is not yet possible. Nevertheless, basic principles ruling texture evolution can be derived in a satisfying manner.
