Bimodal fission of 270Sg (Z=106) in the sub-barrier fusion of 22Ne and 248Cm

摘要
Mass-energy distributions of the (270)Sg (Z = 106) compound nucleus fission fragments have been studied in the reaction Ne-22 + Cm-248 at two energies of neon projectiles, E-lab(Ne-22) = 102 and 127 MeV, with the use of a two-arm time-of-flight spectrometer. The high-energy fission mode has been found at lower energies due to the manifestation of the spherical neutron shell N approximate to 82 in the fission fragments. [S0556-2813(99)07305-7].
