Pathological Auditory Perception and Disturbance of Sensory Integration - An Ergotherapeutic Perspective

An auditory processing disorder affects speech, behaviour and participation. It may be part of a complex problem, in particular with difficulty in sensory detection and modulation. Sensory modulation is the ability to organise sensory signals and respond with appropriate behaviour, in order to succeed in social participation. Traditional treatments for children with auditory processing disorders such as listening therapy or other complementary therapies can be combined effectively with sensory integration therapy.
