Comparison by real-time three-dimensional echocardiography of left ventricular geometry in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy versus secondary left ventricular hypertrophy

摘要
Real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography demonstrates that the midportion of the left ventricle is significantly smaller in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy than in those with secondary left ventricular hypertrophy. This is consistent with a catenoid shape of the septum, a distinctive genetic feature of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
