摘要
The primary objective of this study is to increase the productivity of distilled water of the pyramid solar still (PSS) throughout using different types of nanoparticles. The effect of the use of different types of nanoparticles at different concentrations on freshwater production was experimentally investigated under the climatic conditions in Jordan. In this study, the PSS with the basin absorber plates have been designed and constructed, which covers an area of 0.36 m(2), and the glass cover of the pyramid was made using local materials. Two different types of nanoparticles (aluminum oxide Al2O3 and silica oxide SiO2) were used at specific concentrations of 0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.6%; they were selected to add them with water to the PSS. The experimental results show that the addition of aluminum oxide particles by 0.6% and 0.4% resulted in increasing the amount of distilled water by 11.78% and 10.95%, respectively, when compared with the still without adding any nanoparticles.
