A novel cooperative spectrum sensing mechanism that combines the energy detection with the majority decision fusion was proposed for the poor probability of single-user energy detection under low SNR in spectrum sensing algorithms. The proposed algorithm employs a double threshold method in the signal detection, while sending the test results to the fusion center, and then uses the majority decision fusion method to determine whether the primary user is absence or not. In this paper, the performance of spectrum sensing in the whole cognitive radio systems is investigated for both ideal and non-ideal reporting channels. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is approximately optimal, and the scheme can significantly improve the detection ability under low SNR. The proposed method improves the detection probability of the primary users, thus effectively reduces the interference to primary users communication.
