摘要
The passive transmission modulator based on terahertz metamaterial is proposed, which is formed of a planar array of U-shaped metallic structures deposited on a dielectric substrate. The suppression of the eigenmode resonance by the lattice mode whose frequency is dependent to the incident angle and the permittivity of the substrate is demonstrated. And the transmission modulation via tailoring the frequency of the lattice mode by changing the incident angle is realized. Moreover, the influence from the substrate is also investigated, which shows that the modulation of the quartz-based metamaterial is more convenient than that of the silicon-based metamaterial. These results are helpful in developing terahertz passive modulator and integrated devices.
