摘要
With the increasing ground access demand in and out of airport, there is more and more international airport Rail Rapid Transit (RRT) around the world. However, previous research rarely considered the effect of weight of baggage on traveler's choice on access mode. This study presents an analytical model to analyze individual choices and market demands by travelers, who travel to the airport with two choices, i.e. using airport RRT or driving a car via freeway. Finally, the study presents an example to demonstrate the application of the model and to analyze the market shares of two modes used by travelers from Taipei City to Chiang Kai Shek (CKS) international airport in Taiwan. The results show that the market shares of airport RRT will be markedly larger at peak periods than those at off-peak periods, and with an average of 60 percent during a day.
