High temperature study of nanomaterials using integral form of equation of state (IFEOS)

Thermal properties of nanocrystalline materials differ evidently from those of their bulk counterparts due to the large amount of grain boundaries in these materials. Therefore it is of great interest to study the thermodynamic properties of nanocrystalline materials. Presently we are investigating thermal properties of some nanomaterials (n-ZnO, n-TiO2 anatase and n-NiO) using integral form of equation of state (IFEOS) proposed by Singh and Gupta, assuming the fact that Anderson Grunesian parameter (delta(T)) is strongly dependent on temperature. Variation of thermal expansion coefficient (alpha(T)), volume thermal expansion (V/V-0), and relative bulk modulus (K-T/K-0) with temperature as calculated in the present study, compared with the available experimental data and a close agreement is found between our calculated values and experimental data.
