Design of a UHF RFID receiver based on 0.18-μm CMOS technology

摘要
Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has been widely applied in many fields such as anti counterfeiting, access control system and security management system. The main modules of the receiver are designed and simulationed basised on SMIC 018-pm CMOS technology. The low noise amplifier (LNA) consists of two stages of circuits. The first stage is a source inductance feedback amplifier and the second stage is a cascode structure amplifier, which makes the gain and noise figure improved effectively. An improved Gilibert active dual balanced mixer is used to improve the noise and conversion gain by using the static current injection and the local oscillator buffer technique, and the output buffer is added to enhance the mixer conversion gain and linearity. Finally, a zero IF receiver is implemented by the designed LNA and two I/Q branches of mixers. The simulation results show that the receiver gives 19.14 dB gain with 8.31dB noise figure, and the input ldB compression point of 2.37dBm. It meets the requirement of RF front-end in 900MHz-RFID receiver.
