摘要
There is a clear market demand for an initiative of mobile multimedia instant messaging and presence services (IMPS) architecture and protocol standard that takes mobile requirements into account and ensures interoperability between different mobile terminals, operators and fixed Internet service providers. The Wireless Village initiative provides a standard architecture and protocol suite to build interoperable RAPS service covering multimedia content sharing, group chat and presence notification, and addresses the privacy and access control over IP-based mobile networks such as GSM/GPRS, CDMA 1xRTT etc [WV1.2]. It is anticipated that the mobile multimedia IMPS architecture and protocol standard get converged and aligned with the SIP family [RFC3261]-the core call control flow in 3G IMS networks [TS23.228]. It is envisioned that the Wireless Village standard will eventually integrate with SIP approach.
