TiO2 modified hen-egg-shell-membrane as separator for Li-ion batteries

摘要
Battery separator plays an important role in the electrochemical performance of Li-ion batteries (LIBs). However, commercial polyolefin-based separators cannot satisfy the needs of advanced LIBs due to the low thermal stability and poor rate-capability. Here TiO2 modified hen-egg-shell-membrane (THESM) has been employed as an eco-friendly separator for LIBs. The half-cell with THESM separator shows impressive electrochemical performance and excellent thermal stability compared to Celgard separator. Dimensional size of THESM separator can be well maintained even after being treated at 200 degrees C. Natural degradation and good environmental benignity of THESM membrane can make a biologically inspired design for advanced separators.
