Pion contribution to K+-nucleus scattering from chiral Lagrangian

摘要
The K+ interactions with the on-and off-mass-shell virtual pions in nuclei are evaluated in the chiral perturbation theory at the leading order. It is found that the contribution of the nuclear pions to the ratio of the cross-sections R = sigma ( K(+)A) /6sigma ( K+ D) for nuclei C-12 and Si-28 is about 9%. Inclusion of the off-mass-shell behavior of the K+ pi amplitude may produce a significant improvement to the systematic discrepancies between the experiment data and optical model calculations on the ratio R.
