Lithium-sulfur batteries are the next-generation energy storage devices due to their high specific capacity and energy density. However, the critical issues remain unsolved, such as poor electronic conductivity and shuttle effect of the soluble polysulfide. To overcome these problems, herein, we design the molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) as sulfur host to accelerate the polysulfide redox kinetics in the lithium-sulfur batteries. The resulting Li-S batteries with MoS2/S composite cathode exhibit improved capacity and cycling performance with capacity of 708 mAh/g at 2 C after 300 cycles. The enhanced electrochemical performance is attributed to the suppression of the shuttle effect caused by the excellent adsorption and promoted conversion reaction of polysulfide.
