Flotation separation of sphalerite from galena using eco-friendly and efficient depressant pullulan

摘要
Pullulan (PL), an eco-friendly and efficient reagent, was studied as a depressant in the separation of galena and sphalerite. Its depression mechanism was studied through zeta potential measurement, contact angle measurement, reagent adsorption and XPS measurement. Micro-flotation experiment showed that PL was an effective depressant for sphalerite. Artificial mixed mineral experiment resulted in a Pb concentrate with a recovery of 86.11% and a grade of 69.82% Pb and a Zn concentrate with a recovery of 84.25% and a grade of 57.21% Zn when the PL concentration was 20 mg/L. Zeta potential and XPS measurements showed that PL was adsorbed on sphalerite and galena surface by hydrogen bonding and the adsorption on sphalerite surface was stronger than that of galena. Contact angle measurement and reagent adsorption demonstrated that PL prevented the adsorption of collector on the surface of sphalerite but had no effect on galena.
