Taguchi methodology approach on microstructural and mechanical properties of bimetallic welded joints of API 5L X-52/AISI 316L-Si

摘要
Optimization of welding parameters by using the Taguchi methodology in a narrow joint of API 5L X-52/AISI 316L-Si bimetallic plates welded by the gas metal arc welding process was performed. The hot pass was deposited with an ER-Ni-1 electrode varying the thickness and subsequently filled with an ER-70S-6 filler wire. The results of the microstructural characterization by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy showed the presence of martensite with a Ni-rich boundary in the first pass welded with the ER70S-6 electrode and solidification cracking near the fusion line. The results obtained by signal to noise and analysis of variance revealed the effect of the welding parameters on the mechanical and microstructural properties of the joints.
