Comparative study on microstructure and properties of laser welding and argon arc welding Hastelloy C-276/SS304 with filler wire

摘要
In order to study the effect of welding process on the welding of Nickel-based alloy and stainless steel, laser welding and argon arc welding were used for dissimilar metal welding. The microstructure of weld with the two processes was analyzed by SEM, EPMA and other material analysis methods. The mechanical properties of welded joints were evaluated by microhardness instrument and tensile test platform. At the same time, corrosion properties of welded joints were evaluated by electrochemical corrosion platform. The results show that the grain size of laser weld is smaller than that of argon arc weld, and the average grain size of the weld is reduced by 33.9% through laser welding. The content of precipitated phase is more than that of argon arc welding. The microhardness of laser welded joint is higher than that of argon arc welded joint, and the anti-peel property of laser welded joint is 2.08 times higher than that of argon arc welded joint. The integral corrosion property is better than that of argon arc welded joint. However, the intergranular corrosion property of laser welded joints is weaker than that of argon arc welded joints.
