The world of a village in S. S. Kondurushkin's prose of the 1900s and early 1910s

ntroduction: the article deals with the process of literary reflection of the world of a village in S. S. Kondurushkin's prose. Based on memories of childhood in a village, using the experience of trips to the Volga Region, the writer reveals the social problems of a village, shows the depth of the spiritual crisis and outlines ways to rebuild village life.Objective: to identify the factographic and artistic layers associated with the native village of S. S. Kondurushkin.Research materials: S. S. Kondurushkin's essays "On Election Day" and "Peasantry", short stories and novels of the "Kostychyovka cycle" and the writer's personal archive. Results and novelty of the research: during the analysis of S. S. Kondurshkin's prose works, it was concluded that the world of the village recreated by the author is the world of his native Mordovian Lipovka, and its inhabitants with all their troubles and worries are the heroes of his stories and novels.Particular attention is paid to the novel "The Monk", in which the author presented a panorama of village life, social contradictions, spiritual, moral and economic decline of the village and the restless hero, who partly finds himself with the return from Athos monastery to his native land.For the first time the detailed analysis of S. S. Kondurushkin's village prose is presented; the place of the village and village life in the writer's artistic world is revealed; a number of archival materials is brought into scientific circulation.
