Fear of failure and entrepreneurship: a systematic literature review

Recent research has found a link between fear of failure and entrepreneurship. To comprehend the phenomena and close research gaps, more specific inputs are needed. This study reviews the literature on fear of failure in entrepreneurship to inform future entrepreneurship research. To do this, the researchers conducted a thorough search to uncover 25 congruent research studies for evaluation and critical synthesis. The publications reviewed revealed a scarcity of research on the relationship between fear of failure and entrepreneurship. The key themes of antecedents and outcomes include entrepreneurial networks and skills for antecedents and entrepreneurial behaviour, entrepreneurial decision-making, impact on potential entrepreneurs and impact on cognitive skills for outcomes. A separate category for construct conceptualisation and scale development was also included. Apart from the categorisation of antecedents and outcomes, the present study offers future research avenues of researches in the concerned area by offering possible research gaps.
