Semantic enrichment for BIM: Enabling technologies and applications

摘要
There is a serious information gap between different life-cycle stages and different BIM platforms, semantic enrichment (SE) for BIM is an important solution to address this issue. Therefore, semantically rich BIM models are of great significance for efficient construction management and BIM is facing higher semantic requirements. It is necessary to conduct SE for BIM according to the requirements of specific domains. There is still a lack of in-depth analysis and summary of the content, methods, and applications of SE for BIM in different stages during the life cycle of facilities, therefore this paper gives a comprehensive review of SE for BIM to analyze the status quo and trends from content, methods, and applications. The content and four methods of SE for BIM are summa-rized. The pros, cons, and applicability of each method are analyzed. Applications of SE for BIM in the life cycle of facilities are discussed comprehensively. Finally, this paper discusses the enabling technologies, Level of Development (LOD) and SE for BIM, and presents research gaps and future directions.
