摘要
This review focuses on diverse biomass-based inhibitors employed to hinder corrosion in different aggressive environments, along with several methods of the biomass extraction. The prevalent corrosion inhibitors used in industries are toxic can inflict harm on the ecosystem and escalate health risks in living organisms. This paper summarizes the methods of obtaining the extracts from ecofriendly biomass which includes conventional and unconventional biomass extraction methods and the application of the extracts in protection of metals. The subject of green inhibitors is still up for debate despite extensive experimental work with several published studies. These biomass extracts have demonstrated significant corrosion inhibition efficiency in various media, including acidic, alkaline, and chloride-containing solutions. Their effectiveness can be attributed to the presence of active functional groups, such as nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen heterocyclic compounds, which adsorb onto the metal surface and form protective layers.
