摘要
This research paper proposes a reading of Ecuatorian writer Monica Ojeda's short story "Slasher". The value of sound is assumed as an essential constituent of the identity structure of gothic characters, through semiotic approaches to literature and audiovisual language; as well as a producer element of meaning that becomes a terror-generating device in communion with a visual organization. In this order of ideas, the argumentation evidences the importance of topoi in the gothic genre, and its relationship with the noise scene, manifestation of sound art and experimentation field, in which radical manipulation of the means of production and acoustic composition evidences its merit to probe the fears of human nature.
