On the Discontinuous Galerkin Mixed Potential Integral Equation for Half-Space Scattering Analysis

摘要
This communication investigates the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) integral equation for scattering problems in a half-space environment. However, extending the DG scheme that allows the nonconformal mesh on this formulation is not straightforward. The correct DG-mix-potential integral equation (MPIE) implementation is first derived and explained, and it points out the underlying constraint when transferring the divergence operator on the electric current in the method of moments (MoM) discretization of MPIE. Extensive multiscale half-space scattering simulations are performed and compared to verify the correctness and accuracy of the proposed DG-MPIE method. Benefiting from the independent and flexible mesh generation in different layered media, we conclude that the proposed method could provide efficient scattering analysis for multiscale targets, especially for those half-space backgrounds with large dielectric contrast.
