摘要
The usage of waste tire rubber as aggregate replacement in concrete can be a viable alternative in sustainable construction practices. Present study investigated the usage of waste crumb tire rubber up to 30% in metakaolin based high strength concrete (HSC). The strength and mainly the durability aspect were all evaluated up to a period of 365 days. Regression models were devel-oped to predict the relations among various hardened state properties. SEM and thermogravim-etry analysis (TGA) were performed to examine microstructural properties and the chemical phases present respectively. The results demonstrated that crumb rubber incorporated HSC exhibited lower workability, compressive and flexural strength than control mix. The durability of HSC was found to be reduced as water permeation and absorption, abrasion depth, surface water absorption and drying shrinkage increased with increase of rubber content. However at lower concentration of crumb rubber (5% and 10%), the compressive strength above 80 MPa is possible, also water penetration below 30 mm and abrasion depth below 1 mm is also achievable up to 30% rubber content substitution in HSC.
