摘要
The article gathers engraved glasses with figurative decoration and/or inscriptions discovered in the southern half of France. The 16 glasses studied present a variety of forms (goblets, cups, blown and molded plates) and several types of engraving that can be dated to the second and third centuries and probably reflect several origins. Some of the inscribed vessels come from workshops in the Rhineland, but the Provencal finds seem to be less distant contributions. The article places particular emphasis on open molded or blown forms, offering elaborate decoration and engraving techniques close to the styles of Lynceus and the Contour Grooves Group. However, these glasses are distinguished by several stylistic features that suggest the existence of multiple as -yet-unrecognized workshops. The molded and engraved plates, the work of workshops active in the second century, probably in the first half, prefigure, by their decorative technique associating deep cupules and superficial incisions, the tableware of the Lynceus and Contour Grooves Group styles.
