"Sustainability Calculator" applied to the assessment of sustainable rural development indicators

摘要
Sustainable development is defined as meeting current needs without compromising that future generations can enjoy, that is, not depleting natural resources. Following this premise, we sought to develop a tool (application) of easy understanding and handling, which incorporated the MADERUS methodology (Methodology for the evaluation of sustainable rural development for the evaluation of Family Farming Production Units), especially those of Organic Family Production (UPFO), where the rural producer can have the indication of the level of sustainability in the same way that can point out the necessary corrections. With the general objective of developing an application to calculate the sustainability of organic family production units, the Sustainability Calculator was developed. This is a case study carried out on site, a bibliographic research surveys have primary and secondary data and quali / quantitative, because it generated both statistical data and the level of sustainability of the units. 10 productive units associated with AFAPO were selected, the questionnaire containing 53 questions was applied both in the application and in the traditional way in Excel spreadsheets, after the questionnaire answered, comparisons of response time between the Sustainability Calculator and in a traditional way were made, to evaluate the time spent to fill out the forms in spreadsheet and the one filled in the App. The results were satisfactory the average time spent on the Sustainability Calculator was 17,21 minutes and in Excel spreadsheet was 36,65 minutes, a response time of 19,14 minutes less in the Sustainability Calculator.
