Synthesis of Lower-Rim p-tert-Butylcalix[4]arene Baskets and Their Complexes with C60 and Pt Salts

The synthesis of lower-rim p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene baskets and their complexations is described. The structures of synthesized compounds were confirmed using H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, DEPT, NMR, and mass spectrometry. The complexation of these compounds with [60]fullerene (C-60) was followed using uv-vis and H-1-NMR, but the stability constants were not determined due to irregular change in absorptions and small chemical shifts change. The complexation of obtained componuds with platinum salts was confirmed also using IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis.
