Phase equilibria in Zn-Nb-Ti ternary system at 600 and 450 °C

In order to determine the isothermal sections of Zn-Nb-Ti ternary phase diagram at 600 and 450 degrees C, the equilibrated alloy method was adopted by using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The experimental results show that there are seven and ten three-phase regions at the 600 and 450 degrees C isothermal sections, respectively. Besides, a continuous homogeneous solid solution (Nb,Ti)Zn3 phase was further identified, of which the lattice parameters increase with the increasing of Nb content in these two isothermal sections. Compared with the 450 degrees C isothermal section, the homogeneity range of (Nb,Ti)Zn3 phase increases slightly at 600 degrees C. No ternary compounds were detected at both 600 and 450 degrees C isothermal sections.
