摘要
Schiff base ligands and their associated transition metal complexes have played a crucial role in covering a fundamental aspect of chemistry. Aniline-derived Schiff base metal complexes represent a captivating convergence of chemical synthesis and biological applications, offering a rich landscape of versatile compounds. This comprehensive review meticulously examines the synthesis methodologies, characterization techniques and multifaceted biological applications of these complexes. The synthesis pathways involving aniline-based Schiff base ligands and their subsequent coordination with diverse metal ions are critically analyzed, emphasizing the degrees of complex formation. Characterization methodologies encompass a diverse array of spectroscopic, analytical and structural elucidation techniques, illuminating the unique physicochemical attributes of these complexes. The biological spectrum of these compounds is elucidated, highlighting their broad range of activities, from antimicrobial and anticancer properties to antioxidant effects and enzyme inhibition mechanisms. Moreover, a deeper exploration into the underlying mechanisms governing their interactions with biological systems unveils their potential applications in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology.
