摘要
Karl-Jean Longuet (1904-81) and Simone Boisecq (19222012) formed an unusual couple, committed to regenerating French sculpture after World War II. From the time they met in 1946, they explored a singular path between figuration and abstraction, classicism and archaism. Their works resonated with those by artists of the New School of Paris, who are well represented in Dijon collections. In 2021, the daughters of this couple of artists donated thirty-eight sculptures to the Musee des Beaux-Arts, Dijon, to complement the acquisitions made in 2007 and 2021. The museum now has forty-two works by Simone Boisecq and Karl-Jean Longuet, hinging on notions of architecture, dialogue between public and private space, and research into the human figure.
