摘要
The increased penetration of power electronic converters in traditional power systems is dramatically changing the power system dynamics; consequently, operators must rethink the tools used to evaluate the system's performance during disturbances. Real-time simulation is a promising tool for addressing this challenge. OPAL-RT, a manufacturer for real-time simulators has gained popularity in the power systems community. This publication aims to introduce the general methodology used to code the dynamic model of the Virtual Synchronous Machine (VSM) control technique used for voltage source converters (VSCs), into the OPAL-RT real-time simulation framework. For illustration purposes, a modified version of the IEEE 39 -bus New England system is used for simulations. To validate the model, results have been compared with the results obtained from the software DIgS1LENT PowerFactory. The results were compared using percentage error and the mean percentage error (MPE).
