POLITICAL PRACTICES OF UNION CIVICA RADICAL LENCINISTA IN THE MENDOZA PUBLIC SPACE, 1918-1928

The academic literature about lencinismo has emphasized its movementist character and the Lencinas' charismatic leadership. This article aims to nuance this position to recover the formula of the political party and to plan the gravitation of political practices in the public space led by diverse political actors after the changes ignited by the 1912 electoral reform and by the rise to power of the radicalismo lencinista in 1918. In this sense, this work reconstructs a wide repertoire of practices deployed by the UCRLencinista to strengthen links with the civil society, with the intention of co-opting loyalties and votes, even though these exceeded the electioneering parameter. These activities account for an intense politicization of the provincial society and of the networks' complex construction and organizational loyalties that not only took place in the capital, but also decentralized and replicated in the departments.
