PATHOLOGIES OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION AND SOCIETAL DIAGNOSIS IN NIETZSCHE'S LATE PHILOSOPHY

The article contextualizes the development of the elements of the physiology of art in Nietzsche's philosophy, while situating these reflections within his thought of the formation and transformation of the human being. Artistic expression functions as a symptom of phenomena that originate at a physiological level and inform us of the condition of artists and their public. His clinical analysis of Wagner's art is analysed as a diagnostic strategy of modern culture and society's decadence. The understanding of aesthetics as applied physiology is studied, its adaptive and community component, as well as its instrumental use for politics.
