摘要
This paper focuses on an ultra-wideband edgetrimmed bowtie antenna that covers wireless communication bandwidth from S-band to Ku-band. Over a decade of ultra-wide bandwidth is achieved by simple modifications in the conventional bowtie antenna design. The triangular patch is terminated with an edge-trimmed rectangular extension. Also, two radial stubs are added to the tapered feedline. The edge-trimmed patch and radial stubs provide an ultra-wide bandwidth of 12.8 GHz (2.2 GHz to 15 GHz). The proposed antenna covers the entire band from S-band to Ku-band. A peak gain of 4.38 dBi is obtained at 9.5 GHz. The 122 mm x 50.23 mm ultra-wideband antenna could be employed in radar communication. Because of its simple structure, the ultra-wideband edge trimmed antenna can be used as a unit element for an antenna array.
