摘要
Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) is a rare disorder characterised by a triad of mandibular hypoplasia, glossoptosis, and airway obstruction. Management of PRS involves a multidisciplinary approach and varies depending on the severity of the symptoms. Masters et al described a modified version of the nasopharyngeal airway (NPA) that mitigates the necessity for surgical intervention to relieve upper airway obstruction caused by PRS.1 Blanc et al evaluated 150 patients of PRS and concluded that the NPA should be the first -line treatment, avoiding more complex procedures in most cases.2 However, in low -resource countries, access to medical equipment can be limited, one particular challenge is the availability of NPA for paediatric patients, hence healthcare providers must find alternative solutions to ensure airway management.
