摘要
This work aims at providing an analysis of the French marker quand meme, a very common one in contemporary French. The first part of the study is devoted to an inventory of the different uses of the marker, based upon examples taken from several corpora. The second part intends to characterise each use by means of detectable properties such as the pos-sibility of parentheticals, prosody, etc. The third and fourth parts provide a general model for concession within the framework of instructional semantics and offers a unitary description of QM as a marker of opposition, being the concession one type of opposition among others. The last part focus on specific problems such as the multiple voiced strategy due to QM.
