THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY: between representativeness and academic production

The affirmative action policy represents a public policy widely analyzed by public opinion, the academic community and other spaces directly involved in the effectiveness of the ethnic-racial quota system, especially after the approval of Law 12,711/2012, which provides for its adoption in institutions of the federal system. (Federal Institutes and Higher Education Institutions). However, as a field of studies and research in the area of educational policy, in view of the support of affirmative action by managers of higher education institutions, it still represents a process in formation. From this problematization, this article aims to analyze this proposition, through a documentary survey of Dossiers involving the theme and that were published between the years 2003 and 2022, in journals in the area of educational policy and ethnic-racial relations, using the following descriptors : affirmative action, affirmative action policy and quota policy. It was evidenced that the representativeness of the affirmative action policy in the selected publications is directly linked as a synonym of the ethnic-racial quota system, without considering the specificities that involve the area of analysis of educational policies, without being able to subsidize the actions of managers of public higher education institutions.
