摘要
Dogs suffering from atopic dermatitis (canine atopic dermatitis = CAD) often have an impaired quality of life. Pathogen-esis of this common disease includes skin barrier function defects, abnormal interaction of the skin microbiome with factors, such as antimicrobial peptides on the skin surface and aberrant immune reactions of the patient. Therapy is geared towards normalizing these aberrant reactions of the affected patient. So called flare factors contribute to the severity of the clinical picture. Therefore, these flare factors also need to be therapeutically addressed. Most cases are treated with a multimodal management program for the individual and adjusted to the current clinical situation as necessary. Acute flares need to be treated differently to chronic CAD. © 2023 Verlag M. und H. Schaper GmbH. All rights reserved.
