摘要
The aim of this article is to present, through a narrative literature review, studies on student engagement and its approximation with the music education field. Different engagement studies were reviewed, focusing on indicators, facilitators, results, and motivation. In general, engagement can be understood as active participation in an activity that is determined by the quality of behavioral and psychological (cognitive and affective/emotional) aspects from an individual when performing an action. Based on the literature consulted, it is recognized that engagement is a fundamental process in learning, but it needs a theoretical and methodological deepening in future research on the subject. The results of this study can help teachers and researchers in the education field to understand definitions and discussions about student engagement. At the same time, the text also contemplates an audience that seeks to study engagement and its relationship with the processes of music practice, teaching and learning.
