One new species of Hermannobates (Oribatida, Hermanniellidae) - H. magnus sp. nov. - is described, based on materials collected from upper soil and leaf litter in mountain forests of Andean Peru. A generic diagnosis, identification key, distribution, and habitats of representatives of Hermannobates are presented.
