Synthesis and thermoluminescence studies of beta particle irradiated CaAl2O4

摘要
Calcium Aluminate nanoparticles were prepared by the successful sol-gel route adopting hydrolysis of organometallic precursors. The crystalline properties, morphology, sample composition, and nanostructure of the assynthesized samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Photoluminescence (PL), and Fourier transformer infrared (FTIR). Careful XRD analysis reveals the generation of orthorhombic CaAl2O4 with 54.23 nm crystalline size. The prepared sample was irradiated with beta particles for different doses from 0.11 Gy to 330 Gy. The Thermoluminescence (TL) glow curves of the samples were deconvoluted using newly designed TL software. The deconvolution displayed 14 overlapping glow peaks composing the glow curves. The prepared samples have shown a linear beta dose response in the range of 11 Gy-330 Gy. The minimum detectable dose of the prepared samples was 262 mu Gy. The sensitivity and reproducibility of the TL response of the prepared samples were studied and were found to be very good.
