摘要
In this work, a dual band, reduced size, enhanced gain monopole antenna has been designed by using Frequency Selective Surface (FSS). The volume of the proposed monopole antenna is 0.14 lambda(0) x 0.12 lambda(0) x 0.02 lambda(0), where lambda(0) is the free space wavelength at 3.5 GHz. Three L-shaped loops are used to enhance impedance matching. Size reduction and bandwidth are improved due to the L-shaped loops on the ground plane. FSS is incorporated under the monopole antenna as a band reject filter. Dual frequency bands of 3.45-3.55 GHz and 4.82-7 GHz with stable gain within the operating bands are achieved. The effect of the FSS on antenna results is studied. A maximum size reduction of 93% with 68.8% (2.18-7dBi) gain enhancement is achieved with respect to the reference antenna. The proposed antenna may be used in (5.2/5.8 GHz) WLAN, (3.5/5.5 GHz) WiMAX and fraction part of C-band satellite from 5.925 to 6.425 GHz as an uplink band.
