摘要
During ongoing archaeological studies in 2022, at the residential quarters of Phanagoria, which were destroyed in a fire in the 6th century, a purse containing 33 staters of the Bosporan kings, Thothorses (10), Rhadamsades (2) and Rhescuporis VI (21), was discovered. The catastrophe layer is associated with the report of Procopius of Caesarea (Procop. Caes. De bell. VIII. 5.28) on the destruction of Phanagoria and Cepoi, which took place around 545.554. The new find is of great interest for studying the currency and historical events in the Bosporus in the middle of the 6th century.
