摘要
In recent years, the number of theoretical studies about disability has grown as we have become more aware about the fact that what we could consider a "normal" human being is nothing but a big fallacy of the capitalist system that values people as they are able of doing a job. This article recovers some of these theories to apply them to the analysis of the novel Aislados (Isolated), by Cecilia Eudave (Guadalajara, 1968), and the women roles in it, especially the one of the mother who, young as she is, should be a productive citizen that could fulfill the expectations of her gender, but who can't do it because of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, her presence, so in need of care and vigilance all the time, disturbs family's life both in the real and in the virtual worlds: her elder son Pedro will experiment first hand how both worlds combine and affect each other, in what is a direct effect of the posthuman society we live in, where the amount of likes and views are the measure of our value in society.
