摘要
The 1930 Hague Conference was the most ambitious project of the League of Nations to promote the codification of international law. This article deals with the reasons behind its alleged failure. First, we analyze the preparation of the Conference. Second, we provide an account of the Conference, paying special attention to the conflict between the delegates and the difficulties in carrying out the event from a procedural standpoint. Finally, we provide a reflection on the failure of the Conference, taking into consideration the divergences between the delegates regarding the sources, character and aims of international law.
