TEACHERS AS FACILITATORS OF INTERCULTURALITY IN SPANISH SECONDARY CLASSROOMS

摘要
The current training for secondary education teachers in Spain is carried out through the Master's degree in Teacher Training for Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (MAES), a vocational master which started in 2009-2010 academic year. Although the number of students from different cultural backgrounds in our classrooms grows every year, reaching 10,4% in the 2019-2020 academic year, there is no subject or content in this master about interculturality. Taking these data into account, we have gathered the opinion of secondary teachers and we have obtained 220 responses, which overwhelmingly support the inclusion of interculturality in the master's general curriculum. These answers and the data collected support the idea of including the intercultural competence in the MAES, before teachers access the teaching career.
