5S Program and its contributions to educational institutions with a social character

摘要
Originated in Japan, the 5S tool has widespread as a method for implementing quality management concepts in organizations. Nevertheless, applications in socially-oriented educational institutions are still insufficient, since it can act as a factor for improving the community's life and building knowledge. The main objective was to survey the published works that relate the 5S Program and socially oriented educational institutions in order to compare them with the extension actions developed by the authors. For the bibliographical survey, academic works were selected that presented the following combined terms: 5S and teaching institution; 5S and CRAS; 5S and social assistance; 5S and 'Projeto Pescar'; 5S and school; 5S and basic education; 5S and student. The analysis pointed out that the activities developed between social institutions, using the 5S tool, were significant for the students and that scientific publications in this field are still insufficient.
