摘要
Context. Osteoporosis is a disease linked to aging, silent until the occur-rence of fractures. Fractures are related to bone fragility and leading to a deterioration in the quality of life and an increase in morbidity and mortality. Osteoporosis is more common in women than in men. Different therapeutic classes are proposed and the indications vary.Objective. The aim was to do an update on the management of osteo-porosis, in primary care, according to the different types of prevention. Methods. Narrative literature reviewResults. Bone densitometry is the reference examination used in scree-ning, diagnosis or treatment monitoring. It is an imperfect complimentary exam, because only bone density is evaluated and not the architecture of the bone. Other examinations are under consideration. Physical acti-vity has an important place in prevention and treatment because of its favorable benefit-risk balance. Bisphosphonates are the most evaluated therapeutic class with a modest benefit-risk balance.Conclusion. The risk-benefit balance of the different interventions must be known to offer treatment adapted to each patient and chosen as part of a shared medical decision.
